Following the 2022 edition organised in Rennes, the Journées Nationales de Thermoélectricité will be organised this year jointly by the Orsay Institute of Molecular and Materials Chemistry, the Centre for Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies, and the Irradiated Solids Laboratory, from 22 to 24 November 2023, on the Paris Saclay campus. This national event will provide an opportunity for the scientific community interested in the physical phenomena involved in the direct conversion of heat flows into electricity and vice versa to present their recent results on this "energy" theme in the form of oral presentations or posters, ranging from fundamental research (theory, materials, processing, thermal transfer, micro- and macroscopic phenomena) to a wide range of applications involving the conversion of heat into electricity and thermal regulation.

The Journées Nationales de Thermoélectricité 2023 will consist of (i) a thematic training session (see below) and (ii) a symposium comprising 4 thematic oral sessions, 2 poster sessions, guest lectures and the Coqblin prize for the best thesis on thermoelectricity.

The training sessions will take place over 2 half-days (Wednesday afternoon 22 November 2023 and Thursday morning 23 November 2023):

- the Wednesday afternoon session will be devoted to thin films, covering synthesis, characterisation and metrology.

- The Thursday morning session will be devoted to numerical simulation and modelling of electrical and thermal transport. It will look at the various tools available, before focusing more specifically on electron-phonon interactions.

This year, we will be welcoming 3 guest speakers:

- Dr Laure Biniek, for a presentation on thermoelectric organic porous materials

- Dr Céline Barreteau, for a presentation on accelerated discovery of thermoelectric materials using high-throughput computation coupled with machine learning

- Dr Guillaume Savelli, for a presentation on additive manufacturing of thermoelectric materials
